Welcoming Cllr Dr David Jefferys, Mayor of Bromley

We will miss the Mayor’s Parlour in the Bishop’s Palace in the about-to-be former Civic Centre in Bromley. We have now interviewed three Mayors of Bromley in the Palace – Cllr Hannah Gray, Cllr Mike Botting, and now Cllr Dr David Jefferys, plus Cllr Russell Mellor, in another location.

On 21st June, we – Darren Weale and Zeenat Noorani – interviewed David, who was inaugurated into his one-year term as Mayor of Bromley in May.

As usual, we explored the background of the Mayor before he/she became Mayor. Cllr Dr David Jeffreys keeps up the standard of Mayor’s with intriguing careers – Hannah, TV and singing; Russell, wine merchant; Mike, Metropolitan Police. Whereas David has had a significant career in medicine and science.

One of the key responsibilities of the ‘First citizen of the Borough’, as the Mayor is, is to support his or her chosen charities. David has nominated Alzheimer’s Research, Bromley Youth Music Trust, and Welcare Bromley.

Examples of previous Mayor interviews: Mike, here; Hannah, here. Our new interview with David will be published soon and a link added here.
